Change Your Story, Change Your Life

ChangeStoryChangeLife2015aug

Learn how you can change the background stories running through your mind.

Have you ever listened to a friend or family member introducing themselves to someone they’ve just met, and noticed how they often say the same things at each introduction? Such introduction stories are one way we can catch a glimpse of what’s usually happening unobserved inside ourselves. It’s understandable to hear someone describing themselves as a “Hurricane Sandy survivor,” or a “California firestorm survivor,” since this is a quick way to bring people current with a general sense of some of the challenges they’ve recently faced.

Stories become much more than “just stories” when they play a constant and active role in our lives. We tell ourselves and others who we are, what motivates us, how we arrived where we are today, and what kinds of challenges we face in the stories we live by. Author Thomas King points out “There are no truths, only stories.” These stories need not stay stuck in one particular type of archetypal plot type, but can be changed in ways that benefit our emotional, mental, physical and spiritual health.

As it turns out, stories are far from passive, inert influences in our lives; they can be every bit as dangerous as they are healing.159143209X.RemappingYourMind Author Lewis Mehl-Madrona and his wife Barbara Mainguy share insights for transforming stories from their professional practices in osteopathic medicine and psychotherapy in Remapping Your Mind, with strong support from recent scientific research to explain how and why story therapy can work. Research explaining how the Default Mode Network (DMN) describes activities in the brain region responsible for running the background activity constantly running in our minds. Scientific studies investigating the remarkable efficacy of the Placebo Effect provide insights as to how the stories people tell influence mind-body-spirit health and wellbeing.

Remapping Your Mind provides us with a road map by which we view the inner landscape of our collective minds as the territory of stories we live by. While the case studies and scientific research are quite convincing, I am already aware that the methods described in Remapping Your Mind are effective–because this method is one I have found to be quite reliable when assisting my life coaching clients over the past sixteen years. I have witnessed the same kind of remarkable transformations in peoples’ lives as described in this book, in which people find profound insights in discovering their story, and as they become facile in changing the landscape of the significance and meaning of events and characters in their lives.

There is a kind of magic that occurs when people move out of feeling victimized into a bigger world of more positive possibility, and Remapping Your Mind provides a trusty guide to start this transformation right away.Whether or not you can wrap your mind around the transformative healing power of stories, and even if you don’t yet know what your stories are, Remapping Your Mind will likely be one of your most treasured reference books.

As Thomas King once pointed out, “The truth about stories is that that’s all we are.” How wonderful that we have a very big say in how we tell the stories of our lives! I highly recommend Remapping Your Mind for anyone interested in self transformation.

Talking with Deepak Chopra and Sugar Ray Leonard about Quantum Physics

DeepakIntCindy

Dr. Deepak Chopra interviews Cynthia Sue Larson on “One World with Deepak Chopra”

I loved talking with Dr. Deepak Chopra in New York City this month! I’ve only been to New York City once before, and that was back in 1990 in the summertime, so this was an entirely different experience. New York looked beautiful to me, with piles of snow along sidewalk edges, and occasional flurries of snow coming and going during the time I was there.

The main reason I’d come to New York this February was to meet Dr. Chopra, who’d been the keynote speaker at an Institute of Noetic Sciences Event I attended in San Francisco several years ago.

When I arrived at the Deepak Homebase situated on the mezzanine above the ground floor of ABC Carpet and Home, I was impressed at the beautiful way the space was arranged. The Deepak Homebase is clearly a place of peace, balance and calm, and is large and spacious enough to be utilized for events. Original paintings by Thich Nhat Hanh grace the walls, with visual reminders to be centered, mindful, balanced, and whole.

I could see through large floor-to-ceiling windows that Deepak was on camera, engaged in talking with a guest. I was greeted by members of Deepak’s staff, who welcomed me to enter the spacious room as soon as the current interview finished, where I was greeted Dr. Chopra as he walked from the interview area toward his office.

Deepak explained that the start of my interview would be slightly delayed, and I was welcome to watch the interview before mine, or wait in his office. I was impressed by how calm and relaxed Deepak was, despite conducting back-to-back interviews all day long.  I took him up on his generous offer to enjoy the meditative quiet of his office.

Once the interview began, the time just flew. Deepak and I talked about my kundalini experience, some reality shifts I’ve experienced, my book, Quantum Jumps, and quantum physics. This may have been a half hour interview, but time seemed to zoom by incredibly fast. You’ll be able to watch this interview at the  One World with Deepak Chopra website, when it’s posted at:

Cynthia Sue Larson and Sugar Ray Leonard love Quantum Jumps!

Right after my interview came to a close and the production crew member removed my microphone, I heard a buzz of excitement and several people at different times saying the name “Sugar Ray!” I looked across the room and saw sure enough, there was Olympic gold medalist and boxing champion, Sugar Ray Leonard! After I was introduced to Sugar Ray, he asked me what I’d been talking to Deepak about. I told him about my book, Quantum Jumps, and asked if he’d like a copy of it. He said, “I’d love it!” and asked if I’d sign it for him, which I was delighted to do!

I stayed to watch Dr. Chopra interview Sugar Ray Leonard, and loved hearing about how Sugar Ray Leonard was so positively influenced by the Boy’s Club in his hometown when he was growing up, and how learning the sport of boxing helped him “come out of his shell” of being a very shy boy to enjoy a newfound sense of confidence. Sugar Ray’s positive experience with the Boys’ Club reminds me of one of the real life experiences I describe in my book, Quantum Jumps, where Denzel Washington credits certain experiences he had attending the Boys Club that gave him confidence to attend college. I’m grateful that the Boys Club has been encouraging young people to envision how good their lives can be, and that we have such wonderful people as Sugar Ray Leonard and Denzel Washington in the world!

Quantum Jumping Makeover: Act Like and Become a Better You

CSL2014jan7 “Act the way you’d like to be and soon you’ll be the way you’d like to act.” – Bob Dylan

What would you say if someone were to tell you that your sense of self is constructed, and is just a story? Many of us tend to assume that who we are–our sense of self–is something stable and reliably secure, so there is naturally a good deal of resistance to the notion that who we think we are might be nothing more than some kind of fabricated narrative. Yet some reputable psychologists, including Bruce Hood from the University of Bristol, insist this is exactly the case. Interviewed recently by a reporter for Wired magazine to talk about his new book, The Self Illusion, Hood states,

“My hypothesis is the subject as multiplicity.”

Multiplicity is becoming one of the big ideas of our times, as the notion that our reality is a holographic multiverse has recently gained significant support from a number of different scientific findings. The idea that we exist in an interconnected multitude of parallel realities is one I describe in detail in my new book, Quantum Jumps, which explains how to move from one reality to another. The more open we are to seeing our lives as being the stories we tell ourselves and one another about who we are, the easier it can be to become kinder, stronger, smarter, more resilient, more confident, and healthier. There are lots of ways we can take some baby jumps in these directions, and lots more ways to enjoy life when we do!

Quantum Jumps Quantum Jumps

We sometimes witness how self can be based on constructed narrative when observing public reinventions of celebrities such as: rapper and fashion model-turned-actor, Marky Mark Wahlberg, Madonna, David Bowie, and Neil Patrick Harris. Some performers make changes in order to catch and hold the public interest, yet some of these transformations have a lot to do with making a conscious transition from one way of being in service to another, such as what Levar Burton did when moving on from playing young Kunta Kinte in Roots to Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge in Star Trek: The Next Generation to the host and executive producer of Reading Rainbow. A good part of personal transformation comes from how we perceive ourselves to be based on social interaction. When Bill Moyers asked mythology expert Joseph Campbell in an interview in The Power of Myth how he had personally benefited from his study of mythology, Joseph Campbell replied that one of the ways the study of myth and tradition has helped him in his personal life was based on,

“The tradition in India, for instance, of actually changing your whole way of dress, even changing your name, as you pass from one stage to another.”

An ancient technique of name healing which has been practiced in China for thousands of years, and is still being practiced today is described in Quantum Jumps. A description of this practice is based on the wonderful research of authors Gary Lee and Nicholoas Tapp in their study of the Hmong. The concept of name healing is based in the idea that when an infant or young child becomes dangerously sick or ill, there is a chance that by renaming the child, he or she can become well again. From a quantum jumping point of view, you might say that the entire family and village join in re-envisioning the young person as someone fresh and new–as someone who is perfectly healthy and well.

In my life so far, I have made big transitions that included name and appearance changes. The first was in the 1980s when I got married, cut my hair short and wore business suits that consisted of jacket, skirt, blouse and silk bow tie. This was the perfect look for business, and with this combination of my new married name and a whole new business wardrobe, I felt like the Fortune 500 MBA project manager I considered myself to be.

Something I learned when moving to Lausanne, Switzerland when I was a new mother in the 1990s was that one of the best things about new beginnings is the opportunity to reinvent myself and enjoy a completely fresh start. I had been employed in the corporate world for the past seven years before making this big move, and I was overjoyed to discover that in a whole new city, canton, and country it really is possible to reinvent oneself. I had so much fun dressing like a European, shopping and traveling without a car, and thinking differently in ways both large and small. Wearing a minidress was considered perfectly respectable, and enjoyed a sense of freedom to show the world a whole new side of me that I had never previously been able to feel comfortable sharing before.

I made my third big name and appearance change in the 2000s, after my daughters were born and after I got divorced, when my literary agent encouraged me to change my name from “Cindy Sue.” My literary agent pointed out my name had just a bit too much of a hillbilly sound to it, as she asked imploringly, “Are you known by any other name?” She was relieved to hear that my name is “Cynthia Sue,” and that is the name accompanying this up-and-coming author, as I grew my hair out and started wearing long batik dresses when not wearing jeans.

Yet another name and appearance transformation I’ve enjoyed over the past fifteen years is involved with practicing martial arts, which comes with rank, title and a uniform. Engaging in martial arts provides me with benefits from yet another facet of my total self.

Much of the joy I feel when making transformative changes at times of life transition comes from the fun of getting to be and do something different that I truly wish to experience. I wanted to be a business manager, a stay-at-home mom, an author, a martial artist, and I became all these things. I have come to realize that each of us is capable of doing a great deal more than we typically realize, and sometimes all we need to get started is taking the first few steps. As a spiritual life coach, I especially enjoy helping people treasure these kinds of transformative changes in their lives!

Love always, Cynthia Sue Larson

Quantum Jump into Better Relationships

CSL2013decblue

One of the most wonderfully imaginable ways to visualize an improved world is one in which relationships with others are more supportive and positive. While we might assume there’s nothing much we can do to improve the chemistry or attraction we feel for others, researchers have recently proven this is not the case. Studies show there is a lot we can do to improve how close we feel to others and how positively they feel about us.

Finding True Love in a Telepathy Experiment

When Julie Beischel signed up to participate in a telepathy experiment, the last thing she expected was to fall in love. Beischel was in a room by herself, unable to see her experimental partner, Mark Boccuzzi. Boccuzzi’s instructions were simply to gaze at Julie intently on a closed circuit screen that intermittently showed her (live) image. Intriguingly, the data showed Julie’s physiological responses every time Mark could see her, with noticeable spikes at the exact moments her image was taken away–as if her body was saying, “Oh, where did he go?” Julie said. At the time, Julie didn’t immediately tell Mark about the powerful connections she’d felt to him, since after all, they were strangers. Now married, Julie and Mark credit telepathy for helping them meet and fall in love. “It was like nothing I had ever encountered,” Julie said.

Improve Relationships by Acting Close

University of Hertfordshire psychology professor Richard Wiseman may have begun his working life as a professional magician, but no amount of magic books could explain the amazing results he got when he conducted an experiment with a hundred speed-daters in Edinburgh, Scotland. Wiseman separated the speed-daters into two groups: one which conducted the speed-dating activities as usual, and the other with special instructions for couples to pretend they were already intimately acquainted. These couples were instructed to hold hands, share secrets, and gaze into each others’ eyes.

At the end of the study when all the speed-daters were asked how close they felt to their partners, and how many of them would like to see their partners again, only about 20% of the conventional daters indicated a desire to reconnect, compared with 45% in the pretending-to-be-intimate group. Wiseman explains,

“The assumption was that the emotion leads to the action or behavior but this shows it can happen the other way around, action can lead to emotions. Behaving like you are in love can lead to actually falling in love.”

Wiseman adds,

“Actions are the quickest, easiest, and most powerful way to instantly change how you think and feel.”

University of California at San Diego psychology professor, Dr. Robert Epstein, conducted similar exercises, asking couples of students to participate in what he called “soul gazing” — looking deeply into each other’s eyes. Epstein found a 7% increase in loving, an 11% increase in liking, and a 45% increase in closeness…. with 89% of participants reporting the exercise increased feelings of intimacy.

Epstein’s love-building exercises include embracing each other gently while sensing and synchronizing breathing, placing the palm of your hand as close to your partner’s palm without actually touching for several minutes (in which you might not only feel heat, but surprisingly also some sparks), write down secrets and discuss them, fall backward into the arms of your partner, mirror each others’ movements, and try a mind-reading game.

Taking action to become closer to loved ones is not inauthentic, explains Dr. Epstein. It’s something we can actively do to improve our relationships, rather than passively accepting the status quo.

“The students in my course were doing something new–taking control over their love lives. We grow up on fairy tales and movies in which magical forces help people find their soul mates, with whom they effortlessly live happily ever after.”

The fact that we can increase closeness by acting close in relationships is wonderful news for both old and new relationships. The findings from these studies give credence to the advice of our parents and grandparents who impressed upon us the importance of good social manners. When we make eye contact, shake hands, and inquire how others are doing rather than only talk about ourselves, we’re well on our way to becoming a bit closer to people we might otherwise not care nearly so much about.

Juicy Reality Shifting with Lilou Macé

LilouCynthia2013jul23I was just interviewed by Lilou Macé in my garden for her Juicy Living Tour, which was a truly delightful experience. To prepare for her arrival at my home, I’d cleaned and dusted my living room book shelves, thinking Lilou might wish to gaze upon some of the books I love and cherish… but when Lilou and her assistant arrived, the morning sunshine and our canine backyard ambassador beckoned, so we filmed our conversation in the garden.

I’m a big fan of Lilou Macé’s, ever since finding her wonderful interviews of best-selling author Dr. Larry Dossey on YouTube. I love Lilou’s interviews with Dr. Dossey and his beautiful wife Barbara Dossey, because they capture the best sense of who they are as human beings, and what his passions and interests are. I was thoroughly charmed by the tour of their book shelves, showing a Tibetan labyrinth meditation, and a great way to relax when traveling… with needlepoint! As it turns out, one of the interviews I love best of all–the Dossey home tour in which Lilou walked around Dr. Dossey’s home and talked with Larry and Barbara about books on their book shelves, Dr. Dossey’s service years in Vietnam, oriental dragons, and treasures from their travels–was one of the first Juicy Living interviews Lilou ever did! I loved the effortless way she raised interesting topics for discussion with Larry and Barbara Dossey, and the way the conversation flowed so naturally. I truly felt like it was the next best thing to being there, and felt totally at home. This, to me, is what makes Lilou’s Juicy Living Tour such a delight and joy to watch–that feeling that you’re right there with her, enjoying fascinating heartfelt conversations with good friends.

Lilou and I talked about energy, fearlessness, love, meditation, near death experiences, time shifting, reality shifts, and what’s involved in shifting gears energetically to achieve a higher vibrational state that accesses a parallel universe reality you’d like to experience.
MoonLilouCSL2013jul23

Lilou Macé asked me specifically about time shifting, which is an interesting variety of reality shifting. One of the ways most people experience time shifting is when they find they’ve gone very far in a short amount of time. Lilou pointed out it would be nice to be able to control this ability, and have access to it when one wishes. We also talked about bilocation, and the way sometimes people are seen in more than one place at the same time. This has happened to me on a couple of occasions when I was daydreaming that I was exactly where people later told me they’d observed me to be.

The best way I know to help ensure these positive types of reality shifts occur more frequently is to meditate more often. I told Lilou Macé that meditation is something we can do that takes us to no-when–the place where all time is accessible–the place that near death experiencers like Anita Moorjani describe having visited. Meditation can Dying to Be Meact a lot like putting our foot on the clutch pedal of a stick-shift car, which serves to disengage the gears (this reality), allowing us to move up to another parallel universe (another reality). When we combine favorite relaxation activities with favorite ways to focus our attention, we see there are many types of meditation open to us. Gardening, doing dishes… and even doing interviews can be forms of meditation!

We talked about how at this time when physicists have found what appears to be the Higgs Boson through experiments at the Large Hadron Collider, the Holographic Multiverse Interpretation of quantum physics appears to now be the leading explanation for how reality works. According to this interpretation, we exist in a multiverse of parallel universes with many possible you’s and many possible me’s. We can experience new realities when we bridge the gap between two universes of possibility, and such bridging happens naturally when we access a “no-when” state of mind.

I talked with Lilou Macé about my favorite question, “How good can it get?!” and the way it serves to access fresh new imaginative ideas and inspiration that the universe can then share with you!

Near the end of my video interview with Lilou, we both shared our mutual adoration and respect for best-selling author and inspirational visionary, Dr. Larry Dossey! Here is a link to my interview with Lilou, followed by her video from her visit to the Dossey home. Enjoy!

Quantum Jumping to Find True Love

Cynthia Sue Larson

Imagine that everything in your life has been a dream, and you are just waking up for the first time right now. Can you feel a jolt of energy as you look around your surroundings–with a fresh sense of wonder that in some way you are here for the first time?

This exercise is designed to improve mindful awareness. When you envision you are starting your life with a completely fresh beginning in this very moment… you can feel a heightened state of awareness regarding all the possibilities open to you right here, right now. Mindfulness is the key to appreciating the reality we’re currently in, as well as recognizing the direction we’re moving in, and the direction we’d most like to go.

HALT! Are you Hungry, Angry, Lonely, or Tired?

Notice whether you’re feeling hungry, angry, lonely, or tired (H.A.L.T.). If you are feeling any of these things, you must first take care of your basic needs. Just as grocery shoppers are advised not to go shopping on an empty stomach so as to not purchase impulse items that tend to be junk food rather that what’s best for us, all life changes you make will be better coming from a place of strength.

When you’ve halted for just a moment to ask, “Am I hungry, angry, lonely or tired?” you can rise above relapsing into any old patterns you’d rather leave behind. Eat good food if you’re hungry. Get more sleep and rest if you’re tired. Exercise, write in a private journal, or talk with a trusted friend if you’re angry. Connect with others if you’re lonely.

Envision Seeing a Possible You with Your True Love

In a multiverse in which every single physical thing–including you–exists in a superposition of states, there are a multitude of options open to you right now. This means that amidst infinite possibilities, there is a you who has already found true love and is enjoying a healthy, respectful, loving relationship right now. This possible you knows the secret to how to find and keep true love, is enjoying the benefits of being in a wonderful relationship… and can help you find true love in your life.

You can envision meeting this possible you through entering a daydream or meditation state, imagining all the details of being in the presence of this possible you. Know that simply being in the presence of this possible you grants you access to feeling, knowing, and harmonizing your thoughts, emotions, and feelings with the state of being in a relationship based on true love. While you might be tempted to focus on the person your parallel self is in a relationship with, and that’s OK, make sure you pay special attention to the alternate you. Notice what that you is wearing, what that other you is saying, how that other you is behaving in subtle and not-so-subtle ways.

As you see a possible you enjoying being in such a positive relationship, get the attention of that possible you, and ask to receive whatever it takes so you, too, can find and keep your true love in your life.

Make the Quantum Jump

When you come out of the meditation / daydream in which you saw and felt a possible you with your true love, take some time to write down what you noticed, if anything, that was different about how the possible you who’s found true love spoke, moved, and interacted.

Write down whatever you may have received from the other possible you who is already with their true love. If you got a sense of receiving feelings of confidence or being more relaxed, for example, describe what you felt. If you felt a sense of knowing you are intrinsically worthy of love, jot down everything that will later remind you of how that felt. If you heard your other parallel universes self tell you something, write it down. The idea here is to lock on to the sense of being at one with the feeling of experiencing true love.

Most of all, remember the feeling you get of being in such a loving relationship. Now that you’ve seen another possible you in an ideal relationship based on true love, know that this is attainable for you. You can also remind yourself of what true love relationships are all about by reading books, watching movies, and listening to songs that take you to that blissful, ecstatic state. By locking onto these new emotional / energetic coordinates, you are helping ensure this reality is on a bee-line straight to you.

The Honeymoon EffectThe Honeymoon Effect

If you’ve had past relationships that were less than stellar, and doubt your ability to experience true love, I think you’ll love the wonderful new book by biologist, Bruce Lipton, The Honeymoon Effect: The Science of Creating Heaven on Earth. One of the things I love most about Bruce Lipton is the fearless way he shares intimate details about his life, with such joy and contagious zest for life that one feels one’s spirits lifting even when hearing tales of past traumatic events. What makes Lipton’s new book, “The Honeymoon Effect” such a treasure is how Lipton shares his passion for understanding the underlying biology of our interpersonal chemistry side-by-side with autobiographical accounts of what’s worked and what’s not worked in his relationships in the past.

Would you believe that the cascade of chemicals that drive love can be unleashed not just by falling in love with a person, but also by falling in love with a project or idea? Lipton assures us this is so, since “wherever there is passion, not far behind are the potent chemical brews that motivate us to pursue the objects of our desire.” As an author who once made the mistake of filling the bathtub while working on a chapter of my book, Karen Kimball and the Dream Weaver’s Web, this is something I definitely relate to.

As it turns out, the keys to living happily ever after with one’s true love are found within. Lipton explains through tales from his own relationship lessons in the past why it’s not enough to simply find the man or woman of our dreams. People subconsciously seek familiar patterns from the past, so unless we address underlying psychological issues in ourselves, relationships will only ever last until the initial bursts of love endorphins wear off.

Readers seeking a how-to book might want to dive into chapter four, “Four Minds Don’t Think Alike,” to get to the heart of weird ways we so often find our partner knows just how to push our buttons at the point we know ‘the honeymoon is over.’ Lipton explains that what is actually happening when the love of our life is no longer acting all that loving is that they are expressing their subconscious mind, with all of its programming instilled in us going all the way back to childhood… and before that, into the womb. Our subconscious mind soaked up a great deal of our environment in the form of cascades of chemicals running through our bodies, in such ways that sensitize us to particular repetitive patterns of emotional patterns around us. Fortunately, by becoming mindful, we can reprogram our subconscious mind, so we are compatible with the kind of partners we’d most like to live happily ever after with. Only through such reprogramming can we hope to break free of negative relationship patterns.

The Honeymoon Effect is an inspirational book containing a real-life successful love story, together with lots of recent research in the fields of biology and psychology… and some wonderful tips on how you can become more mindful and successful in love and life. Highly recommended!

Dawn of the Fifth World

Cynthia9dec2012

“There are as many worlds as there are kinds of days, and as an opal changes its colors and its fire to match the nature of a day, so do I.” — John Steinbeck

What I love about the above quotation is the reminder it embodies to us to choose our attitudes wisely and well. The way we respond to situations makes a tremendous difference in what reality… what world… we subsequently find ourselves in.

This reminder to live our lives according to our highest calling and ability is especially important now, as we move through and past the Information Age and toward a new as-yet-unnamed human epoch in history. It may seem hard to contemplate where, exactly, we’re headed when so many things are changing so fast.

If you’ve ever floated down a river on a raft and come to a place where the river narrows, you’ll recall that’s where the water moves most swiftly, rushing fastest through the narrowest rapids. If you’re feeling a bit like you’re speeding through something akin to rapids right now in December 2012, you’re not alone. Not only are we flooded with information, but some of us are noticing that what we focus on is moving from mere idea to reality faster than ever before. Many people have noticed that this past year has been one of the most challenging… and full of unexpected hardships and difficulties, and like me, are looking forward to a fresh start and new beginnings.

If we imagine that we are accelerating down a road in a car instead of down a river, we can visualize how as our speed increases through the rapids, we’d be shifting to higher and higher gears. We can think of the December 2012 gear change as bringing us to a state of consciousness between levels of awareness, while we prepare to move forward. While indigenous peoples such as the Hopi and Mayans see us moving to the transition between long calendar cycles, we might well ask, “Where are we going after the Information Age?’ and “Where do we want to be?”

The direction I’d most like to see us moving in is toward a world based on fundamental core values that make life most enjoyable, such as: compassion, kindness, integrity, harmony, balance, respect, and cooperation. People in this new world will understand the wisdom of making choices and solving problems without fear. Indeed, this is pretty much exactly what optimistic futurists have predicted is coming next, and it is through sharing such intentions that we can best now envision how to arrive there from where we are right now.

Dying to Be MeIf you’re wondering what such a world would be like, or what it would feel like to be in such a state of mind and heart, I’m fairly certain you’ll love a book called Dying to be Me. It’s the real-life story of how Anita Moorjani died of cancer… and then came back to life after an amazing near-death experience in which she realized she could be well simply by dropping all her fears and simply being herself. I love the way Moorjani describes the feeling of pure unconditional divine love she felt–pure agape–and the sense of fearlessness and Oneness she experienced from a state of consciousness that allowed her to watch everything unfolding on Earth… as well as see what was transpiring in the emergency room where doctors were doing everything they could to save her malnourished, cancer-ravished body. This book doesn’t just tell a story about overcoming cancer–it’s really about attaining prosperity and abundance and blessings by letting go of fears and moving into a state of allowing as you are fully 100% yourself. This is a book you’ll likely want to get more than one copy of, so you can loan and give copies away… it’s that good!

Are you ready to celebrate the end not only of 2012 but the past 7,885 solar years as we move from the fourth to the fifth world at the completion of the long count of 2,880,000 days? Here’s a link to a live countdown to December 21, 2012… all you need for your celebration is your choice of guests, party food, hats, horns and confetti:

Reality ShiftsFor most people, December 21, 2012 and the days soon thereafter will likely feel like most any other day. Even if the biggest reality shifts imaginable occur, most people will  likely adapt to all such changes as if the world has always been this way. This seems to be a big part of the way reality shifts in general, and even with the most remarkable shifts, there is usually such a sense of normalness about all of it, as if some part of ourselves was always conscious to some degree in that other reality. When I’ve noticed reality shifts, as I’ve described in my book, Reality Shifts: When Consciousness Changes the Physical World, there is seldom any truly strange sense of things being wrong or even tremendously different after each reality shift, but rather a sense of “new normalness” about the shifted reality. It will be interesting to see how things continue to change and move forward post 2012, in the fresh new beginning of the new world.

As we ask ourselves and one another, “How good can it get?” we help to collectively envision the most positive imaginable future. This moment in time right here and now is ideal for becoming aware of all our possible selves. This is also the perfect moment to consider how we would most love to live our lives free from fear… and full of love and joy.

You can watch me discuss this topic on my YouTube video, Dawn of the Fifth World… and please feel free to comment with your thoughts and ideas here on this blog and in the comments under the video. I’d love to know how you feel!

What’s so special about this book?

People are calling Reality Shifts “Outstanding!” “A magical read!” “Insightful and uplifting!”

Reality Shifts is the only book that addresses the what, why and how regarding the way consciousness–in the form of our thoughts and feelings–literally changes the physical world. Most of us have experienced garden variety types of reality shifts, such as missing socks when we do the laundry, or wondering why our keys or wallet are not where we know we put them–and sometimes, we also experience shifts in time. What few people realize is that the very same types of “spooky action at a distance” that physicists expect to see at the quantum level of reality also occasionally occur on the large-scale level in our daily lives. People and things have thus been witnessed to appear and disappear, transport, and transform… which is what Reality Shifts is all about.

How Can Reading Reality Shifts Improve Your Life?

Reality Shifts helps you reassess your assumptions about reality and consciousness in ways that positively shift your ability to envision and manifest much more positive experiences in your life. Whether you read through the book sequentially, or open and read pages at random, Reality Shifts opens doors to new thought and elevates you to a higher level of consciousness than you were before.

Read Reality Shifts and learn how to:

    • Live lucidly to create a life you love
    • Positively influence the future and the past
    • Transform sabotaging beliefs into strength

What are People Saying About Reality Shifts?

“When I hand this book to people, people are hooked. You read it, and it puts a giggle in your heart! It brings you to a higher level of frequency than where you began. This book… you have to have it on your shelf!” — Tazz Powers

“Cynthia Sue Larson helps restore a sense of majesty and wonder to our everyday world.
If you think science has explained away the magic of existence,
you need seriously to read this book.” — Larry Dossey, M.D.

“Ever wondered where that missing sock went when you last searched the clothes dryer? Thought about why those keys you so carefully tucked into your jacket pocket suddenly disappeared only to be found underneath the cushion of your favorite television sofa? If so then you have experienced what Cynthia Sue Larson calls a Reality Shift. In her book of that title subtitled When Consciousness Changes the Physical World, she explains in clear and unambiguous language just what these reality shifts are, why they occur, and how they can be used to influence and change your life for the better. Larson even goes into how the latest ideas from quantum physics can help us understand these shifts and most importantly believe in them as part of our reality, not just our imagination.” — Fred Alan Wolf, Ph.D.

“Modern science has now addressed the problem of consciousness. We each experience consciousness every day, in some of the myriad and fascinating ways described in REALITY SHIFTS. But no one yet quite understands why this is so. Speculations, theories and experiments from quantum science have now been entered into the debate which suggest that our world is far more mystical, complex, interactive and even humorous than the sterile, mechanistic dogma of classical scientific thought. Read, enjoy, be amazed, ponder REALITY SHIFTS” — Edgar Mitchell, D.Sc., founder of Institute of Noetic Sciences

Quantum Jumping Beginner’s Luck

Cynthia Sue Larson

The person who says something is impossible should not interrupt the person who is doing it.

Have you ever watched someone try something relatively challenging who inexplicably succeeded on the very first attempt? There can be an almost mystical quality to witnessing an extraordinary case of beginner’s luck, in which someone accomplishes something with apparent relative ease that most people would find difficult, if not impossible.

I watched my daughter throw a perfect twelve o’clock the very first time she participated in a Scottish Highlands game caber toss at age nine. She picked up something that looked for all the world like a telephone pole that was taller than she was, and that seemed to weigh as much if not more than she did, carried it forward balanced on one end, and then tossed it end-over-end so it traveled in a perfectly straight line to fall in what’s known in Scottish highland games as a perfect twelve o’clock position, directly ahead of her. I cheered wildly along with the crowd, in wide-eyed wonder and amazement that my young daughter had done an absolutely perfect throw the very first time she attempted such a difficult feat. The crowd cheered to see such perfect caber toss form, and as soon as I got a chance to talk with my daughter, I asked her what she did to get a perfect result on her first throw.

My daughter explained she’d been coached for a few minutes before she made this throw by one of the Scottish highland games athletes and judges, a dear family friend, who’d shown her the basic idea of the caber toss and demonstrated the optimal alignment, positioning, balance and exertion required… all with a small plastic fork. In my daughter’s mind, the final outcome was crystal clear, and she was more surprised that everyone was so ecstatic at her accomplishing the result she’d set out to achieve. Perhaps it helped that her participation had been a spur-of-the-moment thing, rather than something she’d known about or expected beforehand.

One of the likely reasons that so-called ‘beginner’s luck’ is so commonplace is that beginners typically have few preconceived notions about what they are attempting to do. When we don’t already “know” that what we are about to do is supposed to be difficult or even impossible, our minds are open to envisioning ourselves doing things like: finding a parking spot on a busy street where we need it, making a perfect serve in tennis, or getting a hole in one playing golf. Such first-time success is often referred to as ‘beginner’s luck,’ which recently got me to wondering if it’s possible to nurture on-going beginner’s luck… and if so, how one might best go about it.

If you heard there was a way you could develop boundlessness, limitlessness, and infinite wealth, would you be interested? These are qualities often associated with those who live their lives from a beginner’s mind point of view. There are many possibilities in beginner’s mind, in harsh contrast to experts mindset, where there are few. Beginner’s mind embodies some of the most sought-after emotional qualities, such as: enthusiasm, creativity, zeal, and optimism, as beginners focus single-mindedly on desired outcome without becoming physically, emotionally, or mentally frozen in place by dwelling on fears of anticipated setbacks.

Start at the Beginning

You might be wondering how does beginners mind apply to quantum jumping, and what can beginner’s mind offer those of us interested in consciously selecting realities between many possible parallel worlds? In short, beginner’s mind is the key to everything. Whereas our rational, analytical minds excel at noticing patterns, labeling things, and helping us sort and make sense of a chaotic world, our beginner’s mind exists eternally in a state of organic, holistic flow with all that is.

In the beginner’s state of mind, we know exactly who we are and what we can best be doing right now, and how. There is a Zen sensibility to beginner’s mind, and an guileless innocence with complete freedom from rules, regulations, limitations, grudges, fears, and doubts. Accessing such a primordial state of consciousness is possible through meditation and intention, and a willingness to let go of what we think we know.

The Zen concept of beginner’s mind includes the notion of original face–who we were before we were born. While such a notion might seem mind-boggling at first, that’s exactly the idea–just thinking about such a concept that so defies rational explanation immediately transports us to exactly the beginner’s state of mind we seek to embrace.

Aura Healing Meditations

Aura Healing Meditations

One of my favorite ways to attain a blissful state of beginner’s mind is to listen to Aura Healing Meditations, my meditation CD that transports me almost instantaneously to a relaxed, energized state. I’m not the only one who loves it; people have said this CD, “… automatically brings the listener to a higher octave of receptive openness,” “Float from one relaxed reality to another,” and “took me to a place of deep healing…  it is amazing this is something that can be bought.”

Make the  Leap

Once we’ve attained a blissful state of beginner’s mind, we’re in that wonderful state of consciousness that allows us to see many possibilities beckoning, and we’re able to choose, from a pure place of being, which reality–which parallel universe–to select. Rather than imposing any sense of what we ‘should’ or ‘could’ choose, beginner’s mind reality selection is a much more organic process, centered on a sense of our true self, in ways that may be rather different than we typically view ourselves. In other words, from a beginner’s mind point of view, only what we feel genuinely inspired and enthusiastic about will be perfectly focused upon as a desired outcome and result. From a beginner’s mind point of view, we are thus much more genuinely inspired.

What we find ourselves truly inspired about while in a beginner’s state of mind is likely to resonate fully through us in such a way that there are doubts, hesitations, or uncertainties. There can be a kind of boldness in this state of mind, which assists us in holding a steady vision of our desired outcome as a complete certainty, with nothing else distracting us from our goal.

You might notice yourself feeling a sense of being ‘in the flow,’ relaxed, and totally focused… so that when you make the leap and attain your goal, it’s almost anti-climatic–as you were absolutely certain you’d succeed.

Reality Shifts: When Consciousness Changes the Physical World

Do you feel like you could use a little extra help envisioning wonderful success for yourself? You might find it helpful to read true life accounts of amazing shifts in reality in which people experienced quantum jumps in extraordinary ways, such as are described in my book, Reality Shifts: When Consciousness Changes the Physical World. Just knowing such things are possible can make a huge positive difference in one’s ability to let go of all kinds of thoughts about what is and isn’t possible!

I hope you’ll enjoy watching and sharing my YouTube video summary of Quantum Jumping Beginner’s Luck. Please feel free to leave comments either on this blog or on my YouTube video page!

As you explore beginner’s mind, I definitely suggest you continue asking the question, “How good can it get?!” I’d love to hear when you get some pretty wonderful answers!
